The Levels & The Belvedere, Homerton St. Cambridge.

Our largest series of linked contracts.

In this series of linked contracts, the largest ever done by us and totalling over £2.2 million over 2½ years, GME Structures first won the structural steelwork and PCU packages, including the 160 tonne undercroft parking structure and numerous smaller frames.

We were then successful in tendering for the secondary steelwork package which included louvre support steels, balcony cantilevers, screed angles, masonry support angles, canopy steelwork and lift shaft framing.

Finally we won the entire architectural package which included over £800,000 of balconies, juliettes, terraces, stair balustrading, security gates, grilles, louvres, privacy screens, plus numerous bollards and pipe protectors. We then went on to successfully complete an entire project across the road for the same clients.

Birmingham University - Mason Hall of Residence

A £1.2 million package of structural and secondary steelwork.

Completed in early 2008, this was a £1.2 million package of structural and secondary steelwork to six curved halls of residence.

The contract was with Norwest Holst, now called Vinci, working to exceedingly tight deadlines and on what proved to be a very cramped site GME installed twelve sets of kitchen steelwork frames up to five storeys high prior to tying our steelwork and the PCU floor units together and grouting thereafter. We then installed basement steelwork and decking to act as basement rooves , once the concrete building frames reach full height we proceeded to fit some very lightweight roof top penthouse structures before finally surveying and fitting 64 levels of stair support steelwork for the pre-cast stair and landing units to sit on.

RSPCA - Condover

New generation RSPCA animal welfare centre.

Taking over at short notice from a subcontractor that had failed, GME Structures contract was essentially to supply the entire steel content of a new generation RSPCA animal welfare centre. The works varied from the usual small structural frames to all sorts of mesh compounds, trapdoors, guarding and gates, plus stainless rails and bollards.

Working for Wrekin Construction Limited we completed this most intricate and low level series of structures on time and on budget.
